The supervisor who has the primary responsibility for supervision of the candidate. In cases of a supervisory panel the principal supervisor is also responsible to act as the Chairperson.

A supervisor who has a secondary or a lesser role than the principal supervisor in supervision of the candidates thesis.

 

A suitably qualified person, not a member of the university, who is appointed specifically to a supervisory panel for a particular candidate. In some cases the appointment relates only to a period when the candidate is on approved field work.
